Choose the right pesticides

Before deciding on when to have your property sprayed by your pest company, identify the pests that are causing you trouble. You can hire a professional pest control operator who is trained in the identification of insects and pests alongside other remedial treatments. Once you have identified these pests, choose pesticides that work best within your home. Always insist on those offering non-chemical control measures. If that option is not available, go with the least toxic pesticide alternative available on the market. When used over a long period, pesticides become more harmful than the pests that afflict them.

Effect of pesticides on the environment

Pest control is carried out using different types of pesticides. Some eliminate the pests then break down into non-harmful residue. On the other hand, there are those whose harmful effects persist for months and years after application. For instance, the surface sprays or termite treatments.

Most pesticides are designed to kill the pest being targeted. However, there are also other animals that are exposed to harm’s way. For instance, a cat that consumes a rat exposed to rat poison may lose its life. The pesticide you select must be carefully labeled.

Any family member who is allergic or sensitive to pesticides or their smell must consult their physician before the chemicals are applied in their home.
